My theory is very strong in Physics and Chemistry, but I lose marks in numericals. Can you suggest any solution?
— Swati
Since you have been preparing for the AIEEE, it is presumed that you have revised all basic and fundamental concepts included in the syllabus. You might be aware that Class XII Board examination as well as the AIEEE are based on the same syllabus. You may refer to Class XII syllabus in the subjects, identify those topics in which you are not comfortable and devote more time to these topics and content areas. It is suggested that you may also refer to the Board’s Sample Question papers and the previous years question papers to get familiarised with the kind of questions generally asked in the Board examination and the expected answers of the same. If possible, practise one or two unsolved sample question papers based on the design of the Board’s paper within the allotted time of three hours and show the answers to your teacher. It is definitely not advisable to do selective study. Since you claim to be strong in theory component, it is presumed that you have understood the basic and fundamental concepts included in the syllabus. In order to be more comfortable in solving numerical asked in the Physics and Chemistry papers, you are also expected to be fully conversant with different formulae, SI Units and inter-conversion of units from one system to another. Besides, adequate competence in the calculations is also necessary to get more marks in numericals. It is advisable to do variety of unsolved questions and show your solutions to the teacher. More practice in doing unsolved numericals will enable you to acquire confidence and perform better in such questions. You may take the help of solved examples on different concepts given in different books.
Is NCERT textbook enough for a few chapter in Mathematics like Arithmetic Progression, Height and Distance, Trigonometry and Mensuration? What type of questions are expected in Coordinate Geometry and Quadratic Equations?
— Gulshan Khatun
I am Class X student and my exams are beginning from March 2. Till now I have not completed my first revision. Can you tell me how to do revisions at least five times for all subjects before March 25? I need at least two hours of sleep in the afternoon but I can stay awake till late night.
— Sonia Sen
The questions given in NCERT textbooks should be solved along with clear understanding of the method and the related concept. Do not try to rote the solutions. However, it is not essential that the questions asked in the Board’s examination will be only from the NCERT textbook. As a matter of fact, most questions asked in the actual examination are similar to the questions given in the textbook and not exactly the same question. You are advised to solve similar questions from other textbooks as well.
It is suggested to refer to the Board’s Sample Question papers and previous years question papers to get familiarised with the kind of questions, which are generally asked in Board’s examination.
There is no need to worry even if you have not completed your first revision. Nor do you need to convince yourself that you must do revisions five times. What you must do is consult your class notes and find out the learning gaps in your subjects. Once you have identified the areas you need to pay more attention, you can make a timetable in such a way that you study one particular subject for two hours at a stretch. Then you switch over to another subject. This will help to break the monotony and also increase your learning span.
You can definitely sleep for an hour in the afternoon and again by 11-12 pm at night. If you can wake up early in the morning, take a short brisk walk before starting your day. Prepare a study schedule for the next few weeks and you will be comfortable in revising of your courses.
I am appearing for Class X Boards but due to exam stress, my diet is getting affected. Can you please tell me that what kind of health drink should I take instead of tea and coffee?

I want to know how to revise the literature portion in Hindi as it is too vast. What all should I revise in the grammar portion? I also want to how to attempt the literature and grammar parts in English.
— Sudha Palit

For Hindi, it is advisable not to do any selective study since the question paper is based on the entire textbook. If you find literature portion too vast, make short notes of important points and concentrate on these points. The grammar portion must be covered entirely as this is highly scoring and will fetch you good marks.
In English, the literature portion is based on the textbook and questions test what you have read throughout the year. It can be very scoring if you concentrate on the type of questions that are asked. The reference to context question tests the ability to understand the poems that you have studied. It is important to remember the name of the poems as well as the poet as sometimes you may be asked to name the poet/poem. Then it is also important to correlate different stanzas in the poem so that you can answer questions on the entire poem even if only a few lines have been given.
The questions on the drama portion test the ability to comprehend the theme of the character and knowledge of the subject. It is important to make notes on the main theme, justification of the title, main characters and plot of the play. As far as prose lessons are concerned it is advisable to make notes on each lesson, which will be handy in attempting short answer questions as well as the long questions.
The grammar portion is based on testing grammatical items which you have learned over a period of time. You need to read the questions carefully. You must always revise the grammar portion so that you do not lose marks due to a careless error. This is the most scoring portion of the exam and is very simple, so remember to attempt it carefully.
