Upbeat BSP takes out rally
ENTHUSED OVER party’s victory in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, BSP activists on Friday took out a rally from party’s State headquarters at 74 Bungalows. The rally passed through different areas of the City before culminating at the residence of party State president Bhujbal Singh Ahirwar. Participants in the rally stopped at the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar at Board Office Square, Tulsi Nagar and Lily Talkies to pay their obeisance to the Dalit leader.

1984 riots: Ex-gratia rules relaxed

NATIONAL MINORITY Commission member Harcharan Singh Josh held talks with government officials here on Friday on disbursement of ex-gratia to victims of 1984 communal riots and it was decided to let the Tehsildar identify rightful claimants of the victim, instead of stressing on having his or her legal successor. The decision to relax the provision for a legal successor has been taken in view of the fact that in several cases there is dispute among legal successors to take the relief money.

TWO GOND women allegedly died of starvation in Lakhanpura and Silhari villages in Dindori district last month. But the administration denied the charge. The allegation was made by the son of one of the women.
