| | Demonstration of technique at 3 EME Centre THE ARMY is introducing fingerprinting of candidates to record their identities and prevent impersonation in recruitment rallies. A demonstration of fingerprinting of aspirants was given at a recruitment rally at 3 EME Centre on Friday. Every year, the Army holds recruitment rallies to induct youths at various levels. The sheer number of candidates in the rallies makes it easy for participants to resort to impersonation. “It was experienced that fake candidates appeared in the recruitment rallies. As the number of candidates is always high, identifying such candidates is a big problem,” said Director ARO Bhopal, A P S Cheema. He said the fingerprinting technique would help catch impersonators, as the identities of all the candidates will be recorded at the initial stage. “Any impersonator who appeared at the later stage in place of other person will be caught when their fingerprints would not match the available records”, said Cheema. The fingerprinting technique has two stages - enrolment and verification of candidates. At the enrolment stage, four thumb impressions of each candidate would be taken with specific name and their identification would be stored. Appreciating the technology, Cheema said that the response was good and plan is to use it at different centres of the recruitment rally. “Since there are a number of stages before final selection of candidate — like documents screening, physical test, physical measurement and others — fingerprinting will make it easy to detect fake candidates”, said Cheema. The demonstration of fingerprinting technique was done earlier in Delhi, Kurukshetra and Jaipur. Director ARO, Mhow, Col V K Saini and others learnt the technique at the demonstration. ramendrasinghrajawat@gmail.com Database collected BESIDES THE fingerprinting technology, Director ARO Bhopal Col APS Cheema has collected database of all those who appeared in the recruitment rally. “The objective is to gather all kinds of information about candidates who appeared in the rally. With a click of mouse, all information about candidates can be easily accessed,” said Cheema.
