| | WHILE MAKING a visit to Bhopal, a five-member team of the International Lake Environment Committee (ILEC) & Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) organised a workshop in association with MP Consultancy Organisation Limited (MPCON) in the City on Thursday on Bhoj Wetland Project (BWP). The objective of the workshop was to receive feedback on the implementation of the project, from the stakeholders – NGOs, fishermen, washermen, farmers, environmentalist, beneficiaries and citizens. A discussion was held on the survey conducted by ILEC and impact of the project on stakeholders. Listening to various stakeholders, the chairman of ILEC’s Scientific Committee, Masahisa Nakamura said the feedback received would be included in the report. He said out of the total water available in the world, ocean contributes 97.5 pc and out of the rest 2.5 pc, only 25 pc could be used. Sharing his experiences on water conservation across the globe, Nakamura highlighted innovative experiments and water sports & entertainment adopted in various countries. The representatives from JBIC and universities of Japan shared their experiences and spoke on future plans to be adopted in the sector. Detailing on the achievements of the project in Bhopal, MPCON’s managing director Dr P K Lahiri said an international meeting on lake conservation in July and a national meet in November are proposed to take place in Bhopal.
