Five persons, all civilians, were injured in a grenade blast at Khanyar in capital Srinagar on Tuesday.

Sources said that terrorists tossed a hand grenade on a plying CRPG vehicle in the locality at 11.45 am on Tuesday. The explosive however missed the target and exploded on road, causing injuries to five pedestrians. The injured have been shifted to hospital.

The blast caused panic in the area with shopkeepers, customers and pedestrians running for safety. The traffic was also disrupted for some time.

The situation however returned normal within half and hour.
