| | In a predawn attack, terrorists shot dead a senior Congress leader Jan Mohammed Kakroo, who was acting as the Baramulla district party president, while returning home after offering prayers of Eid-e-Milad. Giving details, Station House officer Baramulla police station Mohammed Abdullah Wani told HT, "Jan Mohammed Kakroo was attacked while he was on his way back home after offering prayers at a shrine in Kakar Hamam locality of old town Baramulla. He was shot at from point blank range in which he died on the spot, whereas his PSO also received a bullet and he is critically injured." Jan Mohammed Kakroo was a close associate of senior Congress vice president and member of Legislative Assembly Abdul Gani Vakil and with the help of Vakil. Kakroo who was a close relative of Aijaz Ahmed Kakroo, special secretary to the Chief Minister, is survived by a wife, two sons and a daughter. Meanwhile, no terrorist outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the killing. |
