Sunil Lulla of Eros Entertainment, the distribution company which released Namastey London the world over, is on Cloud 9. Although the film didn’t open well, it has picked up.

Riding high on Namastey London, Eros has decided to venture into film production. The company, which is currently co-producing films with a couple of production houses, is toying with the idea of making an international project in English with Akshay Kumar.

“It’s too early to tell you what we’re planning. But I won’t deny that there are various plans we are looking at. We want to wait before we announce anything,” says Lulla.

A source adds, “Eros has conveyed its idea of making an English film to Akshay Kumar. He has shown interest. The production house is also negotiating with Vishal Bharadwaj to direct this film.”

Lulla states, “We are co-producing films with Vishal and Kumar Mangat. The first is No Smoking, the shooting for which was wrapped up recently Although we’re involved in joint ventures at the moment, we are planning to go independent soon.”

On Akshay Kumar and his popularity, Lulla says, “Namastey London is doing exceptionally well in the overseas market. In India, it’s best in Punjab and Delhi.”
Eros is also presenting Drona, which is being produced by Rose Movies. The film toplines Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra. However, the film’s shooting was stopped after being denied permis sion to shoot train sequences near the Rajasthan border.

On when shooting will resume, Lulla says, “Naturally after Abhishek’s wedding now. We can go ahead with the release plan which we had discussed earlier.”

Eros is also co-producing Ajay Devgan’s first directorial venture. The project is expected to go on the floors in May.

“So far, the film has Ajay and Kajol. We don’t want to divulge the rest of the cast,” concludes Lulla.
