Son kills mother for Govt job

A 52-year-old employee of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad was killed by her son on Friday so that he could get her job on compassionate ground. Police inspector A. Srinivas Rao said it was around midnight when Narsamma returned home from a soiree and went to sleep in one of the rooms of her two-bedroomed apartment at Sevaknagar. Police said Renuka switched off the power supply after Narsamma went to sleep and smothered her with a pillow while Yadaiah guarded the door. Narsamma's struggle and muted cry woke up her youngest daughter, Kalpana, sleeping in the same room. But Renuka threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm.

After killing Narsamma, the couple slept as if nothing had happened. Kalpana informed the police next morning.

Inspector Rao said Yadaiah had no regular income and the meager amount he earned occasionally doing odd jobs was not enough to meet his drinking expenses. He borrowed heavily to fund his drinking.

With creditors knocking on his door for rapayment, Yadaiah hatched a plot with the help of his wife to kill mother.

"We were told that if Narsamma died, Yadaiah would be appointed in her place on compassionate ground. This was the motive for killing her," Renuka said.
