Two farmers allegedly committed suicide in the district due to poverty and debt, police said on Tuesday.
Hariya, a farmer in Ujaratha village ended his life in the village on Monday. According to his wife, he said had mortgaged his two bigha of land for Rs 5000 for getting his daughter married and was unable to repay the debt.
In another incident, a farmer, unable to pay the debt to the moneylender committed suicide on Monday at Emalipurwa village, they said.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate P K Jain said an inquiry had been ordered into the incidents.
